History of philosophy - The history of philosophy tracks the multitudinous theories which aim at some kind of understanding, knowledge or wisdom on fundamental matters as diverse as reality, knowledge, meaning, value, being and truth. Each culture, prehistoric, ancient, mediæval, and modern; Eastern and Western; religious and secular; have had their own unique schools of philosophy, as well as those shared through both inheritence and independent discovery.
